In Katherine's words

Why I do this work

I became a physiotherapist because I wanted to help people do the things that matter to them. For one person that means getting back on the mats after a shoulder injury; for another it is running again after having a baby, walking further after a stroke, or feeling strong enough for a long walk by the river.

Balance Physiotherapy is my own independent practice in the centre of Henley-on-Thames. It is a place where you will see the same experienced physiotherapist each time, where appointments are unhurried, and where rehabilitation is planned around you rather than a standard programme.

Clinical background

Katherine trained at the University of Melbourne, graduating with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours. She has since built extensive experience across senior rehabilitation and neurological clinical roles, including senior NHS practice at Band 8a level.

Her work has centred on neurological rehabilitation and on supporting older adults to regain and maintain function, alongside experience in women's health rehabilitation. She has delivered both one-to-one treatment and group rehabilitation, and has previously run her own independent private practice.

Approach

Why individual goals matter

Two people with the same diagnosis can want very different things from rehabilitation. Katherine's approach starts with you.
  • 01 /

    Your goals lead the plan

We start with what you want to be able to do. Rehabilitation is far more meaningful when it is built around your everyday life.

  • 02 /

    Careful, thorough assessment

Time to understand your history, how you move and what may be holding you back — explained clearly, without jargon.

  • 03 /

    Practical, progressive exercise

Exercises that relate to real activities, adjusted as you grow stronger, with a clear plan for practising at home.

  • 04 /

Working with the people around you

With your permission, family members or carers are welcome to be involved, so everyone understands how to help.
